A WOMAN has been airlifted to hospital after a crash on the A64 on Saturday.

All three emergency services were called and the road was closed in both directions between the Hopgrove roundabout and Towthorpe Moor Lane at Stockton on the Forest, after the crash near the Highwayman Cafe.

Fire crews were called to the scene at around 8.20am, by both police and the ambulance services.

A spokesman said it was a single vehicle crash, with a Vauxhall Corsa on its roof.

The fire crews freed a woman in her 20s from the car and transfered her into a waiting air ambulance.

She was flown to the LGI with suspected spinal injuries.

Fire crews were called again to the A64, to another single vehicle crash slightly closer to the Hopgrove roundabout at around 9.32am.

It involved a Nissan Navara pick-up which was on its side, but no one was trapped and it is thought there were no injuries.

Police have said a third crash happened on the A64 this morning, near the Grimston Bar roundabout.

Roads have now opened, but there was significant disruption on the A64 between York and Malton.

Yorkshire Coastliner buses tweeted to say their services were not affected.
