THOUSANDS of pounds worth of jewellery has been stolen in two burglaries in North Yorkshire.

A house in Park Street, Hovingham, near Malton, was burgled on September 16. Various items of jewellery were stolen, including some unique items which hold precious sentiment to the owners.

On October 1, a house was also burgled in Middlecave Drive, Malton, and again, jewellery was stolen, including a gold coloured ladies watch, a ladies pendant watch and a gold wedding band ladies ring.

Items of jewellery stolen from the Hovingham house include:

- Sapphire engagement ring - this is an 18ct gold and white metal setting. The centre of the ring is a brilliant cut diamond in a claw setting surrounded by six oval sapphire stones and six diamond stones. The diamond weight is 22ct

- Two strings of pearl necklaces - each string contains a graduated row of 115 cultured pearls threaded with knots and diamond cut sterling snap. The length of each string is approximately 21 inches

- Gold chain necklace - made up of very small links and around 21 inches in length

- Gold bracelet - each circular link is small and every alternate few links have a small coloured stone set on it

- Earrings – one pair of gold knot earrings

- Earrings – one pair of triangular shaped gold ‘Gypsy’ style triangular shaped earrings

- Gold and pearl earrings – oblong shaped gold twists with a pearl hanging from the bottom of each earring

- Silver necklace – flat silver necklace with small silver lines running vertically through it

- Gold and emerald necklace – the style is small gold links and every alternate few links, there is a larger gold fancy setting containing an emerald stone

- Cameo brooch – a gold Victorian brooch, oval setting with a cameo design inside

- Three string gold necklace – all joining to one fastening at the rear but each string is tiered down from the neck to the breast

- Gold and pearl necklace- alternate gold and pearl stones

- Gold chain – breast length and had an opal coloured pendant on it which was oval shaped

- Gold chain – breast length containing a pendant which was a multi coloured brown shaded square shaped pendant

Items of jewellery stolen from the house in Malton include:

- Gold coloured ladies watch with gold coloured elasticated wristband.

- Ladies pendant watch – this was a watch on a gold chain which was around 18-20 inches long. The pendant was pinky coloured and had flowers on it

- Gents pocket watch – possibly made by Indesol with a round face and Arabic numbers on it. The rear is engraved with initials and a date

- Gold wedding band ladies ring described as average width and is more than 60 years old.

- Blue sapphire engagement ring with small sapphire stones and a black diamond / flower shaped

- Silver coloured dress ring with a green large square stone.

- Three Resita simulated strings of pearls / each approximately 16 inches long.

Police are appealing to anyone who has information or anyone with knowledge of the stolen property and its whereabouts to contact them.
