A NORTH Yorkshire cycling club has raised more than £11,000 for cancer charities - with the help of a Ryedale energy company.
The Yorkshire Lass Cycling Club's first ever sportive event was held last month in aid of Women Versus Cancer, an organisation which supports three charities - Ovarian Cancer Action, Breast Cancer Care and Jo's Cervical Cancer Trust.
More than 300 women signed up for the event, which included a choice of either a 30, 60 or 103 mile ride.
Organisers Kate Horsfall and Judith Worrall said: "It was an absolutely fantastic event which was even better than we expected – we filled every place, raised a staggering amount for women’s cancer charities and ate lots of cake."
Knapton-based Third Energy covered the costs of medals and goody bags for entrants, meaning more money could be passed to the charities.
John Dewar, of Third Energy, said: "Being part of the Yorkshire community for over 20 years, we were only too happy to step in and help this worthy cause."
