FIREFIGHTERS were faced with the beefy task of rescuing a cow from a river in North Yorkshire yesterday.
A specialist animal rescue team from North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue was called shortly before 11.30am to Westow near Malton where a cow was stuck in the River Derwent.
The team used dedicated equipment to re-moo-ve the cow from the waterway.
A spokesperson for the fire service said: "This was a protracted incident and crews were tied up for over two hours. The cow was eventually rescued from the river and reunited with the farmer."
