THE Award winning White Rose BookCafe, Thirsk is set to mark the 10th Anniversary of Independent Bookshop Week from June 18 to 25, with a selection of events for everyone.

Afternoon Tea with thriller writer Jean Harrod; Where’s Wally? Ultimate Giant Colouring challenge; a fund raising Art Exhibition and a free prize draw every day are among the activities taking place.

Jean will take part in the afternoon tea on Saturday, June 25, from 3pm to 4pm.

She is a former diplomat and has had posts at embassies in China, Indonesia, the Caribbean and East Berlin. Jean will talk about her fast-moving thrillers Deadly Diplomacy and Deadly Deceit. Tickets £2 each includes tea or filter coffee and biscuit.

Plus there is ‘Where’s Wally? The Ultimate Colouring Challenge!” the world’s favourite children’s book character in a red-and-white bobble hat, striped shirt and black-rimmed specs is once again travelling the country, including a visit to White Rose BookCafe, Thirsk.

Launching at the beginning of Independent Bookshop Week, Wally fans will be able to bring busy scenes to life by colouring in a giant Where’s Wally? Colouring Challenge wall where kids, parents and Wally fans of all ages can grab pens and pencils and join in colouring adventure.

Thirsk Art Group members and Alan Read are hosting an Art Exhibition & sale in the BookCafe, raising funds in aid of the Retinal Fund Appeal for South Tees Hospital. Customers can view and buy paintings donated by the local amateur artists from £1 top £30. Alan read had a successful operation which restored his sight in his left eye, after 40 years following a cricket accident. To thank the Team at South Tees Hospital, Alan has decided to hold the exhibition in aid of the Retinal Fund Appeal.
