EVERYTHING from terrier racing to motorcycle stunt riding was on display at Duncombe Park Country Fair on Monday.

Despite a slightly cold wind, crowds flocked to the fair near Helmsley for a day of spectating and participation in a huge array of country events.

Nicki Ordidge, show secretary, said: "We had a great day, everyone was enjoying themselves.

"The motorbike riding was spectacular, we were all watching through our fingers. There was a good show of vintage cars and bikes too."

She added that the dog show had between 50 and 60 entrants, each showing their dogs over a course of straw bales, and that the Bilsdale Silver Band provided a soundtrack of a medley of music.

The main ring featured several canine shows, with hounds, which younger guests were invited to meet, and beagles, as well as terrier racing, into which visitors could enter their own terriers.

Motorcycle stunts were provided throughout the day courtesy of freestyle motocross group Broke FMX. The bikers performed jumps as high as 35 feet in the air over gaps approaching 100 feet.

There was also a miniature grand national for young pony riders. Equestrian events were continued elsewhere with unaffiliated showjumping, gymkhana and a miniature horse show.

There was more interactive activities with clay pigeon shooting and archery, fly-fishing demonstrations, and lurcher, terrier and ferret shows. There were also farmers', craft and trade markets and guests could find refreshment at a bar selling drinks provided by the Great Yorkshire Brewery. The show was completed with a number of rides, trampolining, go-karts and a bucking bronco.
