A MAN has been hit by a bus in York city centre.
The corner of Rougier Street and Station Rise was blocked by the crash in which a bus hit a 55-year-old cyclist at about 12.30pm.
He was airlifted from the scene at 1pm after the air ambulance landed in Memorial Gardens.
Early reports indicate the person has a suspected head injury, North Yorkshire Police said.
His injuries are not believed to be life threatening but the accident is considered serious, police said.
The police, ambulance and fire service were all called to the scene.
The road re-opened at 2pm, with traffic now easing in the area.
