PUPILS at Slingsby Primary School have been learning how they can make the world a better place.
Class 3 have been taking part in the Archbishop of York's Youth Trust Award, a citizenship programme which aims to empower young people to make a difference in their local community.
The children have collected food for Ryedale food bank and donated toys, games, books and art equipment for the children's ward at Scarborough Hospital.
Headteacher Georgie Metcalfe said: "The whole school also collected sponsorship money to do a sponsored walk from Slingsby to Barton-le-Street, raising more than £1,000 for the Charlie Mortimer fund, a children's charity set up by our Key Stage 1 teacher Stephen Mortimer.
"The children have been learning how we can make the world a better place and 'be the change they want to see'."
