MORE than 200 entrants from across the country took part in the 14th annual Beadlam charity tractor run on Sunday.

Raising money for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance, they drove vintage and classic tractors on a route of about 50 miles.

Organised by the Simpson family, the tractor run started from Beadlam Grange Farm with drivers travelling to Fadmoor, Kirkbymoorside and Hutton-le-Hole before stopping to eat lunch at Spaunton. They then came back through Lastingham and Cropton before arriving back in Beadlam.

Malcolm Simpson said they were still counting funds raised from this year's event, but were hoping it would push them towards the £100,000 mark raised in its 14-year history.

"The weather was ok, not very sunny, but could have been a lot worse. We managed to beat the Tour de Yorkshire through Hutton-le-Hole and we had some fantastic support once again in the villages we passed through and the people we collected from were very generous," he said.

"A big thank you to everyone involved, the drivers, marshals, collectors, Beadlam Grange for supplying a great start and finish venue in tough boggy conditions, all the other land owners who let us use or pass through their land, Olive Simpson and her lunchtime crew, the video crews and our sponsors who provided donations or equipment.

"We couldn't thank you enough as without all of you the event wouldn't be what it is today. What a great day."
