A SELECTION of the area's leading artists will be exhibiting their work at Pickering Art Fair next weekend.

The art extravaganza will showcase work by artists from across the area, including Whitby, Scarborough and Filey, York, Malton and Kirkbymoorside, and as far away as Leeds and Skipton.

Among those exhibiting are Dean Regan, who lives and works in Whitby, and paints mainly in oils, and Justine Warner, from York, who is a textile artist working mainly in recycled materials, working with wet and dry felting, found materials and beads to create a range of textures within the art she produces.

New to the show is Suzanne McQuade, from Leeds, who is a self-taught artist and is inspired by nature, landscapes and the changing seasons.

Returning exhibitor is the internationally-acclaimed Judi Kent Pyrah, equestrian artist and international award winning artist Alan M Hunt who is widely regarded as one of the best wildlife artists in the world.

Diane Todd, organiser of the Pickering Art Fair, said: “We are very lucky to have such highly esteemed artists exhibiting with us. I think we have a lot of talent in our region, and as an artist, if you haven’t got gallery representation, then art fairs are great opportunity to take your work to the next level and that’s what these shows are about, it’s all about creating exhibiting opportunities for artists and makers alike.”

The Pickering Art Fair will be held Pickering Memorial Hall on Saturday, May 7 and Sunday, May 8, and will be open both days from 10am to 4pm. Entry is free and refreshments will be available.
