PEOPLE are being invited to "come dancing" on Friday at a Valentine event in aid of Ryedale Community Leisure Centre (RCLC).

Barrie and Pat Elener are organising the dance in aid of the centre, off Scarborough Road, in Norton, which is run by volunteers.

Barrie said: "We had a very good Christmas dance and cabaret, which was well attended and we raised £300 for RCLC, which is a community charity.

"So a big thank you to everyone who supported us in any way and especially to all those who turned out and came dancing with us - do please make our dances a regular 'date'."

Barrie said the Valentine dance would have a theme of romance.

"We play a good variety of music for dancing, including big bands, vocals, sing-along and popular music from the 40s to the 70s," he said.

"Everyone is welcome, do come and join us, whether you want to dance or just socialise and listen to the music."

The Valentine dance is on Friday, from 7.45pm to 11pm, doors open at 7.30pm. Tickets are £5 and available by phoning Barrie on 01653 694431 or email bpelener@hotmail.co.uk
