PUPILS from Helmsley Primary School took part in a sponsored walk with a difference to raise awareness of the importance of water.

The children, from nursery and reception, carried buckets of water from the school to the town's sportsfield and back.

Organised as part of their science topic, the pupils, aged three to five, have been learning about how important water is and how it is used.

Money raised from the walk will be donated to Oxfam and victims of the recent flooding in York.

A spokesman for the school said: "It wasn't a brilliant day weather-wise but they really enjoyed it."
