THE Yorkshire Wildlife Trust is inviting people to get out to the coast this half-term, to see everything from rockpool wildlife to winter wading birds.

The Living Seas Centre is the trust's premises on the South Landing at Flamborough. The centre will be open every day during the February half-term, from 10am to 4pm, with free activities in the Discovery Room to entertain the children and bring out their inner scientists.

Alongside arts and crafts activities there will also be experiments and interactive displays covering topics from marine litter to fossils.

Visitors can also join the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust on Sunday, February 14, as they head out to see what marine wildlife can be found in the rockpools at South Landing on their "seashore safari", while on Tuesday, February 16 children can become a "seashore detective" and join the seashore scavenger hunt.

On the North Landing, the Flamborough Cliffs nature reserve sits atop the chalk cliffs of Flamborough headland. At low tide the bay below attracts small numbers of waders such as oystercatchers, and large numbers of guillemots may also be seen, returning to the coast in spring to breed.

Booking is essential for some of the activities. For more information, visit ywt.org.uk
