FIRE crews have attended the scene of an HGV which was leaking 'corrosive acid'.
Crews from Malton, Sherburn and Pickering were at the scene on the A64 near West Knapton. As well as three pumping appliances there was also a special incident support unit present.
According to the fire service, the crews arrived on the scene around 12.15.
The HGV had been transporting the acid in 25l drums when the leak was noticed.
A fire service spokesperson said that investigations are ongoing but there doesn't appear to be any damage.
The driver had managed to pull the vehicle over onto a layby.
However there was disruption on the A64 in both directions for several hours between Sandy Lane and White Gate West Heslerton. Motorists were advised to approach with care.
