FIREFIGHTERS spent almost five hours tackling a blaze at a Ryedale pig farm.
Engines from Malton and Pickering and two from Scarborough were called to the fire at a farm in Hagg Side Lane, Ebberston at 9.11pm on Saturday.
On arrival, they found a "large number" of pigs had already been taken to safety.
Officers used breathing apparatus and four hose reel jets to fight the fire in a 15m x 20m barn containing 20 bales of straw.
The fire, which is still under investigation, was put out just before 2am on Sunday.
