POLICE are appealing for information following a series of thefts from parked cars along the A170.

The incidents occurred on the evening of Friday, October 30, when several vehicles were broken into while parked at separate locations along the A170 between the towns of Pickering and Scarborough.

The first incident, occurred around 7.45pm on Mill Lane in Pickering when unknown offenders broke into a Vauxhall Corsa and removed several personal items from inside.

Just after 8pm, another theft, was reported at The Grapes pub in Ebberston, whereby the offenders had smashed the side window of a Renault Clio and stolen £800 worth of items.

Shortly after this, a ladies Scots Speedster Road Bike in black, white and turquoise was taken from the roof of an Audi A5 parked in the car park of The Downe Arms in Wykeham. Around the same time, the offenders broke into a Volvo parked on Cockrah Road in West Ayton, making off with a small amount of diesel fuel.

At 8.30pm, a similar incident occurred in the car park of The Mayfield Hotel in Seamer. The offenders smashed the driver’s side window of a Ford Ka, stealing several valuables and cash from inside.

Special Constable Liam Cromack of Scarborough police, said: “We are appealing for help from the public to identify who may be responsible for these thefts which have caused upset and inconvenience to the victims involved. If you were travelling on the A170 around during the times in question and remember seeing anything suspicious, I would urge you to get in touch.”

Police are particularly keen to hear from anybody who may remember seeing a vehicle acting suspiciously at the time of the alleged offences.
