A RYEDALE nursery has stuck gold twice with its fruit displays.

RV Roger Ltd, near Pickering, picked up two gold medals at the Harrogate Autumn Flower and Royal Horticultural Society’s Malvern show.

This follows on from two more gold awards at the Harrogate spring and autumn shows last year, as well as the prestigious RHS Stanley Lord Bowl at Malvern.

The apples will be on display at the nursery's annual apple weekend on Saturday and Sunday.

Mark Gerrand-Jones, from RV Roger, said: "It’s a fantastic celebration of Britain’s favourite fruit and there promises to be a bumper apple crop available.

"The cool damp summer this year is what apples like most, and why we in the UK grow some of the best apples in the world."

Mark said there would be a display of more than 150 varieties of orchard fruit.

"Fruit experts will be on hand to give advice on all aspects of fruit buying and growing; fruit identification; pruning and general care," he said.

"In addition, there will be a number of arts, crafts, and produce stalls to add to the harvest sensations."

The nursery will be open on Saturday and Sunday, from 9am to 5pm, for the apple weekend.
