STUNNING views of Ryedale are helping to raise funds for St Catherine’s Hospice.

The charity has launched its 2016 calendar with orders already coming in from as far afield as Australia and Canada, as well as locally.

About 600 photographs were submitted and 12 chosen to feature in the calendar which is set to be one of the biggest fundraisers for the hospice, currently celebrating 30 years of care.

Among the photographs are four from Ryedale. They include a wintry view of the Rye in Helmsley and a photograph of daffodils at the River Dove, Sinnington, both by Jane Armitage.

The calendar also features a picture taken at Scampston Hall by Chris Legard and a chilly scene outside Brompton Church by Sue Gurney.

Hospice fundraiser Richard Barwick said he would like to thank everyone who had sent in photographs.

“There are some stunning pictures in our new calendar and we hope it will once again raise lots of money for patient care,” he said.

St Catherine’s Hospice provides in and out-patient care, neurology support, bereavement support and day care for patients across a 1,600 square mile area, including Ryedale, costing £6.2m a year.

The calendars are on sale at outlets across the area where St Catherine’s provides services, from Whitby to Bridlington and inland to Driffield and Ryedale. Among the many places selling the calendar, which also feature recipes submitted by hospice supporters, are all 11 hospice shops including the shops in Pickering, Malton and Helmsley.

They can also be bought from the hospice in Scarborough or its online shop at stcatherineshospice-nyorks.org
