A BLOOMING good event is being planned for Newburgh Priory in Coxwold on Bank Holiday Monday.

Flower Power Fair is holding its late summer plant fair from 11am to 4pm and there will be 15 nurseries offering hundreds of choice plants, herbs, cut flowers, herbaceous perennials, climbers, shrubs and trees and you have all the ingredients for a great day out.

“It’s a great time to be buying plants," said organiser Judy Popley. “Buying at this time of the year allows them to bed themselves in, get a good root system and, of course, they then thrive in the spring giving your garden a head start.”

The gardens extend to more than 40 acres and include a walled garden, ornamental avenues, topiary, water garden and ancient woodland.

Entry to the fair, gardens and grounds is £3 and parking is free. Refreshments are served throughout the day and the house will also be open (charged separately).

Entry to the gardens, grounds and Plant Fair is £3 (children under 15 free). Dogs welcome.
