ORGANISERS of this year’s Malton Show are celebrating another successful show with thousands of visitors enjoying the annual attraction.

Held at Scampston Park, the agricultural show included a number of new attractions designed to provide entertainment for all the family.

This year’s event – the 129th show - also attracted record numbers of livestock entries.

The show’s new chairman Alan Tate-Smith said: “The general feeling is that it has been very well attended with a lot of people round the main ring.

“It is fantastic that we have had such a good attendance and the weather has been on our side.”

Mr Tate-Smith said after last year’s new lay-out a number of tweaks had taken place in response to feedback from visitors and exhibitors.

“We are lucky to have Scampston Park which is a fantastic site and really lends itself to an agricultural show,” he added.

“Holding the show on a Sunday also enables us to reach the family audience who are looking for a day out.”

Among the new attractions this year was the Pony Club mounted games plus kids races and tug of war plus various features designed to make the show a fun day out.

The show also featured the many agricultural attractions and horticulture displays plus farm exhibits and class entries for different types of animals that make up the backbone of the show.

A range of sponsors supported the show headed by the farmers’ co-operative BATA based at Amotherby.

Mr Tate-Smith said: “I would like to thank everyone involved in running Malton Show, including the committee, and to all our sponsors especially the lead sponsor BATA.”
