Ryedale businesses shortlisted for White Rose Awards

The awards, which celebrate the best tourism across the country, covers 16 categories including the best Yorkshire attractions, hotels, B&Bs, restaurants and pubs. 

Popular businesses in Ryedale have not gone unnoticed either with the Black Swan in Helmsley shortlisted under the Large Hotel category and the Feversham Arms Hotel and Verbena Spa, also in Helmsley, shortlisted in the Small Hotel category. 

Forest Holidays at Keldy, on the edge of the North York Moors National Park, near Cropton, have been shortlisted for the Outstanding Customer Service award. 

On the shortlist for best bed and breakfast is No 54, Helmsley and the best restaurant shortlist includes The Hare Restaurant, at Scawton, near Helmsley. 

Robin Hood Caravan Park is also shortlisted in the caravan, holiday park and holiday village section. 

Colin Mellor, chair of the White Rose Award judges said: "Every year the field of entries seems to get stronger and stronger and this year’s awards are certainly no exception.

"We’ve had a record number of entries, almost a third of which are first time entrants, which is a real testament to the growing tourism offering in Yorkshire."

More than 1,000 people will come together for the awards dinner later this year with the date and location still to be announced. 

Gary Verity, chief executive of Welcome to Yorkshire, said that he was thrilled to see Yorkshire businesses being recognised. 

He said: "I’m delighted for all the Yorkshire businesses who have been nominated for a White Rose Award.

"They were up against some incredibly tough competition so to be shortlisted is testament to their hard work and commitment to Yorkshire’s fantastic tourism industry. We look forward to celebrating with you all on the night."
