BADLY Drawn Boy will headline the opening night of the Galtres Parklands Festival at Duncombe Park, Helmsley, on August 28.

The gig falls on the 15th anniversary of Badly Drawn Boy’s Mercury Prize-winning album, The Hour Of Bewilderbeast and Damon Gough will be performing tracks from this album, along with hits from his soundtrack to the film About A Boy.

“This booking was inspired by the festival’s new location next to the River Rye,” said Parklands’ music programme manager, Rodney Wright.

“The song Stone On The Water could have been written there.”

Guitarist John Smith, Holy Moly and The Crackers and Seafret will be among the other acts on the first night; original Stranglers frontman Hugh Cornwell will play on the Saturday and The Proclaimers will close the festival on the Sunday.

The Galtres festival is in its 11th year and this year will have a Wild West theme.
