Woman dies in crash near Castle Howard
A MOTORIST has died in a crash on the Castle Howard estate.
North Yorkshire Police said officers were called at about 9.45pm last night to a single-vehicle collision involving a Volkswagen car which collided with an archway on a minor road near the stately home.
"The only occupant of the car, a woman in her sixties, was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics," said a spokesman.
North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service said firefighters from nearby Malton were called to assist police with hydraulic cutting equipment and airbags at the scene of the accident, which happened near The Gatehouse.
