LIFEGUARDS are being urged to join the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI).

Anyone interested in becoming a summer lifeguard in North and East Yorkshire would join the team during peak season from May 23.

David Brant, RNLI Lifeguard supervisor, said: “RNLI lifeguards develop CV-enhancing skills and it really is a summer job with a difference – one moment you could be offering safety advice to beach users and the next performing major first aid.

“Our lifeguards earn a competitive rate of pay and there’s the added bonus of knowing that you’re fulfilling a vital and worthwhile role within the community.”

RNLI lifeguards are trained to deal with anything from finding missing children to performing major first aid procedures and lifesaving rescues.

Lifeguards for the charity must hold a recognised lifesaving qualification, but for those who do not there will be a National Beach Lifeguard course in Scarborough from Monday, April 6 to Friday, April 10 with assessments on Saturday and Sunday, April 11 and 12.

To apply, phone David Brant on 07827 307683 or email davidbrant@rnli.org.uk
