HE’S a global megastar, but one of David Beckham’s biggest – and perhaps oldest fans – lives in Old Malton.
Doris Lunn, a resident at The Abbey care home, is celebrating her 100th birthday on April 10, and staff are keen to make it extra memorable by getting Beckham, or a look-alike, to present her with a bouquet of flowers.
Ann Race, from the home, said Doris, absolutely loved David Beckham.
“She has posters in her room and a calendar and talks about him all the time,” she said. “Every night we go in and say good night to her and she says the same to Beckham too.”
Ann said Doris was not a football fan but adored Beckham’s personality and his “amazing body”.
“She is so young at heart and it would make her day if he, or someone who looks like him, could come along on her birthday,” she said. “Most people look forward to a card from the Queen, but not Doris, all she wants is Beckham.”
If you can help, phone Ann Race at the home on 01653 692256.
