JACK BERRY, vice-president of the Injured Jockey Fund (IJF), has said he is delighted Malton’s new rehabilitation centre will be up and running in the next few weeks.

Keys for the centre will be handed over to the IJF on Tuesday, with The House That Jack Built officially being opened by the Princess Royal at the beginning of June.

Jack said: “It is looking amazing, absolutely brilliant. There are still finishing touches to be carried out but everything is really coming together.”

Jack has held a long-standing ambition to open a facility in the north of England to complement an existing facility, Oaksey House, in Lambourn.

The project has cost £3.1m, with money raised by a fundraising campaign as well as a range of supporters.

“We have some wonderful people who have really got behind the project in all sorts of ways,” Jack said.

“I am definitely looking forward to the centre being open for those who need it to come for treatment – it has been a long time coming but we are finally getting there.”
