Beertown, Malton

The town’s breweries will once again raise their glasses to showcase the best beers around alongside live music from local bands.

More than 40 beers will be on during the festival, which is being held for the second year and raises money for Ryedale Special Families.

Bands appearing on Saturday include The Y Street Band, East Coast Vagabonds, The Grand Ole Ukes of York and Beth McCarthy. There will be food from Malton Relish and the Mount Hotel.

The event will run from 1-11pm tomorrow and tickets are available from the Milton Rooms and Brass Castle Brewery in Yorkersgate.

Next Steps coffee morning, Pickering

Why not start the weekend with a relaxing tea or coffee and a piece of cake, all in aid of a good cause. Next Steps Mental Health Resources Centre in Norton is holding a coffee morning to raise money for the group from 10am-12 noon.

Next Steps hold a weekly session at Pickering’s Memorial Hall every Wednesday from 10am-12noon.
The coffee morning will be held at the Liberal Club, Smiddy Hill in Pickering.

Golf Open Day, Snainton

Make the most of the nice weather this weekend and visit Snainton Golf Centre for a free day on the putting green.

From 9am-6pm on Saturday people can practice their skills for free on Snainton’s nine hole course and 50 free range balls. There will also be a trick shot show by Paul ‘The Striker’ Barrington at 1.30pm.

Tree and shrub nursery auction, Castle Howard

This Saturday from 10.30am-3pm Castle Howard will host the 40th annual auction and bid for native hedging, amenity, forestry and ornamental trees. The Tree Nursery Manager will also be on hand to give some top tips and advice to those who attend.

Castle Howard Tree Nursery has been growing and supplying forestry and hedging plants, trees and shrubs to wholesale and retail customers across the county for the past 55 years.

Harmonia Choir at Kirk Theatre, Pickering

On Saturday night the 55-strong female choir will take to the stage of Pickering’s Kirk Theatre to perform some of the pieces they will be singing at the Eskdale Festival in Whitby next month.

The choir is based in Malton and is led by experienced singer, teacher and vocal coach Alison Davis who has led the group for the past six years since it began.

Tickets are £6 and can be bought on the door. Doors open at 7pm ready for a 7.30pm start.
