A LORRY driver has been charged with drink-driving after he was allegedly found asleep in his stationary pick-up truck in the outside lane of the A1 in North Yorkshire.
North Yorkshire Police said a patrol found the vehicle on the southbound carriageway of the A1(M) close to the village of Baldersby, near Thirsk.
A spokesman said the trucker was found slumped over the wheel and his alcohol level was later found to be almost twice the legal limit for driving.
A 24-year-old man, from the Alloa area of Scotland, was later charged with drink-driving and will appear before magistrates in Northallerton on February 16.
