HIGHWAYS chiefs have cancelled plans to close the A64 in Ryedale this weekend because of uncertainty over weather conditions.

A spokeswoman for the Highways Agency said work will now commence next week on resurfacing in the Heslerton area, with the two weekend closures now planned for Friday January 30 to Monday February 2 and from Friday February 6 to Monday February 9.

However, this would again be subject to weather conditions.

β€œAt other times works will be completed using a convoy system,” she said, adding that night-time work was to continue on the westbound A64 between Bilbrough and Tadcaster, subject to favourable weather conditions, with the aim of completing these works early next week.
