AN event to help individuals, community groups and businesses to find enterprising ways of doing social good is being held in Pickering on Tuesday.

The meeting, from 2.30pm to 5.30pm, at Mr Wilf’s café, Vivis Lane, will feature presentations from Coast and Vale Community Action (CaVCA)’s social enterprise advisor David Stone and Louise Crampton, of the Wilf Ward Family Trust.

There will also be opportunities for organisations to discuss their ideas and plans, together with the offer of longer term support and find out what other help CaVCA can give voluntary and community groups, micro businesses and social enterprises.

This event is one of a series being run in partnership with Ryedale District Council with the next one in Malton at a later date Mel Bonney-Kane, chief officer at CaVCA, said: “We know that social enterprise can have a big social and economic impact on communities and we are delighted to be offering this support in Ryedale.”

Councillor Linda Cowling, leader of Ryedale District Council, said: “Support for socially-motivated organisations to become more enterprising is important, particularly as the public sector moves more towards commissioning arrangements.

“CaVCA can offer their advice and expertise in this field.”
