THE annual bonfire and firework display in Sinnington has been cancelled due to safety issues.

Members of the parish council decided they could not longer hold the event on Wednesday, November 5, because of the insurance implications.

Roger Hudson, from the council said: "Unfortunately the annual bonfire had become unmanageable due to the numbers attending and we have decided to cancel this year's event because of safety issues.

"We will look at other options in the future but regrettably this year's event will not be going ahead.

Last week the Gazette & Herald reported that members of the sportsfield committee in Slingsby, had been forced to cancel their annual bonfire and firework display due to dwindling donations.
