LATEST figures from the North York Moors National Park Authority at Helmsley show that since 2012 some 29 listed buildings have been removed from the "at risk" register.

In total the park has some 1,893 listed buildings, 839 scheduled ancient monuments and 42 conservation areas.

A report to the authority's planning committee said: "The North York Moors has a wealth of cultural heritage whch makes an important contribution to the unique character and appearance of the landscape. The distincivtive character of the park's built environment depends havily on its wealth of traditio nal and histor buildings.

Among the buildings removed the "at risk" register were Hackness Pinfold, Westerdale Boundary Stone, Roseberry Shooting Box, Thornton Hall ha ha bridge.

A package of funding totalling £200,000 was secured for Duncombe Park's grade 1 listed Ionic Temple through English heritage, Yorkshire Gardens Trust, Country Houses Foundation, the National Park Authority, and the owners.
