RYEDALE Folk Museum is offering people the chance to kick-start Christmas with a programme of craft courses.

The museum is championing handmade gifts for Christmas and is encouraging visitors to plan early and make your own. A selection of Christmas craft workshops are on offer led by local tutors, including glass artist Wendy Greenwood, from Greenwood Crafts, in Hutton-le-Hole, and Jacqui Kimber, from Tempting Textiles.

Participants can learn from these highly-skilled teachers and take-away gifts or things to decorate their own homes.

The courses include designing and creating rag rug wreaths and natural wreaths from wire, moss and other natural elements, and kiln formed glass decorations.

Event Co-ordinator for the museum, Emma McKenzie said: “Our craft workshops are perfect for creating some unique and meaningful Christmas presents and decorations. There is something really special about making things by hand.”

The courses are: Stars and Snowflakes Glass Decorations on Sunday, November 2; Mini Rag Rug Wreaths on Sunday, November 16 and Make your own Natural Wreath on Tuesday, November 25.

Prices are £12 per person for each course.
