Kaboom at Castle Howard, Saturday, November 1
The Ghostbusters themed firework event promises plenty of spooky fun and games as well as a spectacular firework performance. There will also be a Fright Night funfair and the chance to tuck in to some Halloween and bonfire night related tasty treats. For more information visit castlehoward.co.uk

Witches and Wizards Week at the North York Moors Railway, Saturday, October 25 – November 2
On Friday, 31 there will be Halloween Story Trains leaving Pickering Station with characters on-board to tell magically themed spooky stories.

Nine day Halloween celebrations at Flamingo Land and Zoo, October 25-November 2
From pumpkin carving to devilish arts and crafts there is an abundance of activities to keep visitors to the theme park entertained this Halloween and bonfire night.
There is a two-for-one fancy dress admission offer and visitors can enjoy what the Mischief Mansion has to offer as well as the Carnival of Horrors before the fireworks finale at the end of the week.

Horrible Happenings at Nunnington Hall, Saturday, October 25 – November 2
Visitors are invited to come dressed to scare as Horrible Happenings gets underway at Nunnington Hall. Each day at 2pm there will be a fancy dress parade and the house ghosts of the hall will be on hand to tell visitors of the horrible stories they have witnessed.

Ryedale Folk Museum Halloween party, Friday, October 31
Come and experience the museum at night with a family fun themed party from 6-8pm. The party promises to have pumpkin carving, a fancy dress competition, children’s crafts, spooky food to munch on and apple bobbing as well. To book a place phone the museum on 01751 417367.

Half-term Spooktacular at Howsham Mill, Friday, October 31
Young horror movie lovers will be in their element as Frankenweenie and Village of the Damned are shown at the Mill. If horror movies don’t thrill you, there will also be the opportunity to make lanterns and dream- catchers. howshammill.org.uk

Fear in the Forest at Dalby Forest, Friday, October 31
Young actors from the Yorkshire Coast College will perform a variety of scary plays in various locations within the forest. Visitors should expect scares, stares and standing on end hairs as they walk along the guided trail taking in the haunted playground, tunnel of terror and a little comedy.

Helmsley’s annual bonfire and fireworks display at Helmsley Sports & Sports Club, Saturday, November 1
Organisers are hailing this year’s event as the biggest and best to date with a showstopping firework display as well as stalls selling a variety of food including burgers, hot dogs and sweets.
For children there is a stall specialising in light-up toys and cosmic swords and there will be the chance to have a go at a game inspired by the TV game show Play Your Cards Right.
Gates open at 6pm and the bonfire will be lit at 6.30pm. The firework display will begin at 7pm. Entry is £4 for children and adults and under 5s can go in for free.
