THE Youth Hostel Association is calling on people to vote for it to win a £25,000 global sustainability competition for its hostel in Boggle Hole at Whitby.
A public vote will decide the winner of the £25,000 Hostelling International (HI) 2014 sustainability fund which will allow it to have solar photovoltaic panels installed on the roof of its new annexe.
The solar panels will decrease annual CO² emissions by more than 50 per cent at the YHA as well as dramatically reducing its heating costs.
YHA Boggle Hole is competing against projects from 11 other countries., including Brazil, Iceland, South Korea, New Zealand, Canada, Israel, Spain, United Arab Emirates, Switzerland, Netherlands and France – to win the prize fund.
