Stamford Bridge Singers have appointed a new musical director.

Stuart Nettleship, formerly director of music at Queen Margaret's School in Esckrick, has directed choirs throughout the UK for many years and enjoys arranging and composing.

Stuart was the preferred candidate for the post following the retirement last term of founder/director, Michael Wiles.

The singers are very much looking forward to working with Stuart and to performing their first concert under his direction at the end of this month.

The autumn cabaret this year is entitled 'Just One of Those Things' and it will be performed at Gate Helmsley Village Hall, on Saturday, September 27. The event starts at 7.30pm but doors will open at 7pm. There will be a pie and peas supper, choice of desserts and a licensed bar, with proceeds going to 'Pipe Up!' - St Mary's Gate Helmsley Centenary Organ Restoration Fund.

This will be the singers first concert under the baton of new conductor, Stuart, and the accompanist will be the well-known local organ advisor, Geoffrey Coffin.

Tickets, priced at £12.50 (£5 for children under 16) to include a two-course meal, must be purchased before the event from Michael Harran on 01759 372215 or 07980 003679 or by email frominfo@stamfordbridgesingers.co.uk
