Police are appealing for information after an inflatable mascot was stolen from a motor industry event at Harrogate football club.

The mascot, called Trusty, was taken between 6.30pm and 9.30pm on the evening of Tuesday, September 16. It was taken from outside where it was used to promote the event which took place inside.

Trusty was attached to a power supply and contained a fan which kept it inflated. It cost about £2,500.

Police are appealing to anyone who witnessed the inflatable being stolen, has come across it, or knows where it is now, to contact them, along with anyone with any other information about the incident.

PC Peter Taylforth said: “The inflatable is quite large and of a distinctive design. It would not be of any use to anyone other than the organisation it was intended for. Also, anyone attempting to remove it would have been visible to any passers-by. It’s possible that people who saw it being taken didn’t think anything suspicious was happening. I urge anyone who has any information about the theft, to contact the police as soon as possible.”

Anyone with any information is asked to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101, select option two and ask for PC Peter Taylforth or email peter.taylforth@northyorkshire.pnn.police.uk If you wish to remain anonymous, you can pass information to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
