A NORTH Yorkshire woman has published her latest novel – completing a family trilogy.

Lindsey J Carden wrote her first book, Northern Spirit, three years ago.

Following its success, Lindsey, who lives in Broughton, decided she knew the characters well enough to write a full-blown family saga.

She said: “It has been said that there is one good book in everyone so to write a trilogy was a challenge.

“I finished the second, Last Boat To Nowhere, last year and the Edwardian prequel, Keld Head: The Keeper Of The House, I completed this spring.”

Lindsey said her new novel, Keld Head, was a true and candid war horse story and she loved the challenge of writing in the Edwardian era.

She said: “With my love of the hills and mountains and my farming background the stories flowed naturally. I allowed the series to travel from Cumbria to Yorkshire to capture some of our beautiful northern landscape.”

Lindsey said it was quite an emotional moment when she received the first draft in the post of the last in the series. She said: “I couldn’t actually comprehend what I had managed to achieve.

“Early reviews have said this latest book is their favourite in the series.”

Lindsey is now working on a young adult story of a boy who leads a team of donkeys and will be at the Ryedale Book Festival on Saturday, October 11.

She added: “Some people love reading – I love writing.”

The books are available at Hoppers of Malton and digital versions can be downloaded from Amazon UK. For more information visit keldaschronicles.co.uk
