A 'MURDER' is to take place in Butterwick this weekend with local people invited to turn detective.

The Livewire Theatre Group is presenting 'Kill the Midwife', an interactive pop-up theatre to raise funds for the village church.

Director, Mary Tate, who lives in Butterwick, said the village was an ideal location for the production with just 11 houses.

"We will be taking people back to the 1930s and the golden era of detective stories," she added.

"The audience will start their investigation in the incident room on the village green at Butterwick Green and then be guided to to interview the suspects all around the hamlet."

"It will be a proper old fashioned detective tale in the style of Miss Marple and Poirot investigating the disappearance of Butterwick's beloved midwife."

Mary said they were appealing for a gypsy caravan and vintage cars which could be placed in the village on the day.

"It will be a lot of fun, people will have to have their thinking caps on, and anticipate an exciting denouement," she added.

All the proceeds will be donated to Butterwick Church, which is one of the venues for the afternoon's production. Refreshments will also be available.

Kill The Midwife takes place on Sunday, September 7, 1pm - 5pm.
