LIFEGUARDS rescued a couple when their bodyboarding holiday turned into a nightmare in windy conditions at Cayton Bay. on Saturday. RNLI lifeguard Tim Machon used a rescue board to reach the man and woman who were about 500 metres outside the RNLI patrol area.
The woman from Lichfield had been knocked into the sea when her bodyboard hit her in the face. Mr Machon towed her back to shore, accompanied by her husband, who had been bodyboarding with her and was able to make his own way back to shore. Neither was seriously injured.
It was the second time in less than four weeks holidaymakers had been rescued in windy conditions.
