A STATELY home in Ryedale is getting ready to stage an exhibition of one of the country's best loved cartoonists.

Matthew Pritchard - who draws the Daily Telegraph's famous Matt cartoons, will be the focus of a show at Nunnington Hall running from Saturday, September 13 to Sunday, November 2.

Nunnington Hall’s General Manager, Mollie Dodd, said: “We’re really looking forward to this exhibition as this is something slightly different to anything we’ve had before and we think visitors will love it."

London gallery The Chris Beetles Gallery have arranged the exhibition, and there will be a preview evening on Saturday, September 12 from 6-8pm with a question and answer session with Matt at 7pm.

Matt, the son of Daily Telegraph columnist Oliver Pritchett and grandson of novelist Sir Victor Pritchett, started work as Pocket Cartoonist at the Daily Telegraph and Sunday Telegraph in 1988 and he continues to produce his daily jokes for them, with nearly 3000 in total.

He has received The Cartoon Art Trust Pocket Cartoonist of the year three times - most recently in 2005 , the UK Press Gazette's Cartoonist of the Year in 1996 and 1998, and an MBE in 2002.
