THE Crown and Cushion in Welburn is thanking the local community for their support by inviting the entire village to its first birthday party.

Villagers have been sent invitations to help it celebrate the pub's first year since its major refurbishment and re-opening as part of the Provenance Inns Group.

Local band ‘The Karl Mullen Jazz Trio’ will provide the music whilst guests enjoy the refreshments including a three- tiered chocolate celebration cake and a macaroon tower, featuring over 1200 individual macaroons.

The Crown and Cushion Manager, Guy Richardson, said: “The team wanted to do something a little bit special to mark our first birthday. The people of Welburn and its surrounding area have been amazing in their welcome and support. It seemed fitting that we involved them fully in our celebrations and we are looking forward to welcoming them to what we hope will be Yorkshire’s Largest Bank Holiday barbecue.”
