Fitzwilliam Estate gives Heron Foods £150,000 to expand

THE Fitzwilliam (Malton) Estate will contribute £150,000 towards the redevelopment of a new Heron food store.

Heron is moving from its premises in Wheelgate, Malton, to larger premises in the same street.

The new store will combine three units previously occupied by Stead and Simpson, Co-operative Travel and St Catherine’s Hospice furniture outlet.

Planning permission was secured in May and work is due to start later this month.

Estate surveyor Tobias Burckhardt said: “We are pleased to have agreed terms with Heron, making their expansion in Malton possible.

“The Heron Foods retail model has grown rapidly throughout the UK in recent years; this deal allows Heron Foods to almost triple its floor space and retain its town centre location. This move brings more choice and fits with Malton’s food town aspirations on every level.”

Er no, Fitzwilliam spends £150k doing its own property up. I don't think the idea is to give Heron anything. I believe it'll be Heron doing the giving, ie rent.
