APPRENTICES in Ryedale have been given a training boost.
Derwent Training Association (DTA) has taken delivery of a purpose-built hydraulics training bench to meet a demand from local employers for industrial hydraulics training.
The bench was designed and manufactured by Hydrastore Ltd, Doncaster, using DTA specifications.
Bob Hardie, trainer and assessor at DTA, said: “This bench will allow ourapprentices the opportunity to translate the theory of fluid power into practical circuits, which is the type of training our employers want.
“Even though it has only just been delivered we are seeing an increased demand for apprentices already.
“We’ve had a lot of support from local employers.”
The bench was funded by a grant from Ryedale District Council’s Ryedale Apprenticeship Project 2013.
Councillor Linda Cowling, leader of the district council, said: “This piece of equipment will play a key role in developing practical skills for many.”
