PROJECTS throughout Ryedale will benefit from another year of the successful Community Grants scheme.

Ryedale District Council has allocated £45,000 to the grant fund for 2014/15, with the scheme open to any community based organisation or group, for projects such as village halls, play areas, sports facilities, village-owned shops, activities and events that support the local area.

Groups can apply for up to £5,000 capital or revenue funding. Projects, considered by the fund can be varied and diverse but must be able to show that they make a positive contribution to at least one of the council’s stated priorities.

There are two planned meetings at which applications will be considered and the deadlines for applications are August 29 and January 2, 2015.

Councillor Linda Cowling, leader of the council said: “This grant scheme is designed to kick start projects which have the support of their community. “Last year we were able to help 29 local projects get off the ground, including village halls, sports facilities and community services and projects.”
