A TEENAGER suffered serious injuries when a horse and trap was hit by a van in North Yorkshire.
The 19-year-old woman was riding in the trap on the A168 near Thirsk and Northallerton Golf Club at about 8.50pm on Tuesday. North Yorkshire Police said a white Vauxhall van, driven by a man in his forties, collided with the rear of the cart as it travelled from the South Kilvington roundabout towards the B1448.
The woman suffered serious injuries and was taken to James Cook Hospital in Middlesbrough, and a 43-year-old local man who was walking at the side of the pony and trap, sustained serious injuries including a broken leg, broken arm and broken jaw.
