SHOPPERS can do their bit to promote Ryedale's market towns as part of a national campaign to encourage people to use their local market.
Cotton shopping bags have been printed with the days of all the weekly and monthly markets in Ryedale which will be distributed free to customers over the next month, at each event.
Linda Cowling, Leader of Ryedale District Council, said; "Local people and visitors are able to enjoy a market on almost every day of the week around the year, thanks to the four traditional weekly markets and four specialist farmers, food and craft markets that serve Ryedale. "
Kirkbymoorside market will be first to distribute the bags. Operated by the Memorial Hall Committee, it hosts 23 stalls selling a wide range of fresh local produce and household goods.
Christine Richardson, Chair of the Memorial Hall, said: "Wednesday morning sees a real bustle in Kirkbymoorside, as the market provides a focus for the town centre, encouraging visitors and locals to visit our lovely town."
The bags have been made and printed locally by Woodall & Sons in Malton Market Place.
