The RNLI renewed safety warnings to holidaymakers yesterday after an overturned kayaker was rescued off Scarborough’s Marine Drive.
Lifeguards Carl Walsh and Richard Island found the man had already been tipped out of his vessel when they arrived in a rescue boat on Tuesday afternoon.
They used a large body-board to haul him aboard and took him back to the RNLI station on the South Bay for a check-up. The kayak was brought ashore by a fishing boat.
