IT'S all about give and take for one Norton couple who will celebrate their diamond wedding anniversary this Thursday.

Jean and Ken Fisher, who met through a group of friends, were both born and raised in Huddersfield, marrying there before moving to Malton in 1996 after having lived in Wrexham.

Whilst living in Wrexham Ken, 84, worked as the secretary manager for the Wrexham Golf Club whilst Jean, 81, was the ladies captain for the same club. Together they enjoyed going to the cinema and dances on a Saturday evening before deciding to return to Yorkshire.

Ken said: "My brother had a caravan at Jamie's Cragg and we liked the area so we thought it was a good move for us. We really like Malton."

The couple were both active members of the Malton and Norton Gold Club for many years and despite having had no children of their own, the pair say they have plenty of nieces and nephews to keep them busy.

Thrilled to be reaching their 60th anniversary, Ken said that he believes give and take is the secret to their happy marriage.

"You have got to be tolerant," he said.

"We all have squabbles and fallouts but having tolerance and give and take is key. Try to give more than you take and I don't think you can go far wrong from there."
