EASTER eggs, bunnies and racing sheep were on offer at a bumper weekend of events across Ryedale.

At Castle Howard, visitors enjoyed bird of prey displays, sheepdog demonstrations and an Easter-themed trail around the grounds to meet Molly the bunny.

They were also able to cheer on Woolly Jumper, Sheargar and Red Ram as they battled it out over jumps on a Lamb National course.

At Nunnington Hall, families enjoyed a cracking Easter weekend with an egg trail and themed craft activities.

The National Trust property teamed up with Cadbury’s to provide an Eggsplorers Easter Egg Trail enabling children to explore the house and gardens for the chocolate treats.

A spokesman said: “We’ve had a fantastic weekend. The weather has been good and lots of families have taken part in our activities.”

Beck Isle Museum, in Pickering, held an Easter egg hunt, with each child receiving a prize on completion.

Museum director Rodge Dowson said it had been a very pleasing start to the season. He said: “We have been delighted to see so many families and it is a good start for us with figures up on this time last year – let’s hope it carries on.”
